The day started well with sunshine but with ice on the car windows a late september day after a night with a few degrees below zero. A great day for montain hiking after past weeks daily rain in other words.
I start from Arjeplog with aim on Jäkkvik and Kungsleden (King's trail), it's a nice early morning drive with all lovely autumn colors and thin shiny ice started to form from the pond sides. Arriving to Jäkkvik I have to admit I get some doubts if I'm fit enough to walk all the way up to the twin tops of Pieljekaise.
Kungsledens signs at Jäkkvik with distances to different places,
Well managed hiking trail
Bridges & boardwalks over wet areas
Heavy backpack don't make it easier going uphill.
Rest cabin ab. 3km from Jäkkvik
Passing the cabin the mountain birch forest start to grow thin and turn to a mountain heath on the north side of Pieljekaise
At the mountain heath wind started to increase and sun disappeared behind the clouds, mountain area in Lapland is well known for it's fast weather changes.
Towards the top of Pieljekaise
Relaxing coffee break next to a small Jokk.
The tiny Jokk start in the valley between the two tops of Pieljekaise.
Towards the higher top
On the summit towards Jäckvik 18 september 2018. +2, cloudy and very hard increasing wind.
